DANCE  SCHEDULE AND CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 



Tiny Tots (ages 1-3) **Parent Participation**   

Tiny Tots is a parent and me participation class for dancers ages 1-3. Throughout the class,  students will be engaged in  many exciting creative movement activities. With the use of fun props, the young dancer will begin to develop balance, coordination, and simple dance technique. Students will also discover a love of music with our instruments, nursery rhymes and movement songs. Fine and gross motor skills will soon develop in this energetic class. The class will also teach the value of taking turns and working together.

 *Parent participation is required for this fun-filled 45 minutes of dance, music and movement!

This is a Hanover Parks and Recreation Class that meets at the studio and runs for four week sessions. Registration is on the Hanover Parks and Recreation website. 

Creative Movement (ages 3-4)   

This class is designed for our ‘new’ to dance dancers. This  creative movement class allows children to explore their imaginations through the experience of music and movement. Props and activities will be used to create a whole new learning environment.  Skills including marching, counting music, and basic ballet steps will help dancers with communication, memory development, and social interaction. Must be potty trained to attend. 

Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo (ages 4-5)   

Dancers in this combination class will  experience the combination of ballet, tap and jazz. The dancer will learn the basics of each technique in each genre. Dancers will gain flexibility, basic technique, and self-confidence through repetitive motor skill, coordination and rhythm pracitice. Students will learn the importance of taking turns and working together.  

Junior Combo (ages 5-7)   

The junior combo class is a combination class  which includes ballet, tap and jazz. The dancer will learn the foundations of each technique. Every month new skills and steps are stacked onto the already established basics. Dancers will gain flexibility, basic technique and self-confidence through repetitive motor skill, coordination and rhythm practice.    

Junior Ballet (ages 6-8)   

Dancers will learn fundamental ballet skills. The class will introduce and reinforce ballet positions, the names of the ballet movements and technique. This form of dance is beneficial, as it is the foundation of dance and applies to so many other types of dance. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer. 

Junior INT Ballet (ages 6-8) 

This class is a recommended by teacher only class. Students that are in INT Ballet must have completed a full year of  Beg Ballet and met all the requirements  outlined in the syllabus .  The class will reinforce ballet positions, the names of the ballet movements and technique. This form of dance is beneficial, as it is the foundation of dance and applies to so many other types of dance. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer. 

Junior Tap/Jazz Combo (6-8)   

Dancers will explore both tap and jazz in this hour combination class. Jazz is a high energy class in which your dancer will learn progressions and overall dance technique.  This form of dance is beneficial, as it applies to so many other types of dance. In tap, your dancer  will learn rhythm tap technique, develop their sense of time, coordination and musical skills.   A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer.  

Junior INT Tap/Jazz Combo (6-8)   

This class is a recommended by teacher only class. Students that are in INT Jazz/Tap must have completed a full year of  Beg Jazz/Tap combo and met all the requirements  outlined in the syllabus, Dancers will explore both tap and jazz in this hour combination class.  Jazz is a high energy class in which your dancer will learn progressions and overall dance technique.This form of dance is beneficial, as it applies to so many other types of dance.  In tap, your dancer  will learn rhythm tap technique, develop their sense of time, coordination and musical skills. Junior Hip Hop (ages 6-8)   

This class will introduce students to a variety of hip hop techniques and styles. Class will begin with a warm-up, which will focus on proper placement, developing good technique and healthy stretching. Students will learn fun combinations across the floor or in the center, utilizing the skills learned earlier in the class and will put the combinations together for a fun hip hop dance. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer.   

Junior INT Hip Hop (ages 6-8)   

This class is a recommended by teacher only class. Students that are in INT Hip Hop must have completed a full year of Junior Beg Hip Hop and met all the requirements outlined in the class syllabus.  Students will learn a variety of hip hop techniques and styles.Class will begin with a warm-up, which will focus on proper placement, developing good technique and healthy stretching.Students will learn fun combinations across the floor or in the center, utilizing the skills learned earlier in the class and will put the combinations together for a fun hip hop dance. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer.   

Youth Beg/Int Ballet (ages 9- 12)   

Dancers will learn fundamental ballet skills. The class will introduce and reinforce ballet positions, the names of the ballet movements and technique. This form of dance is beneficial, as it is the foundation of dance and applies to so many other types of dance. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer.  

Youth Jazz (ages 9-12)

Youth Tap (ages 9-12)

Pre Pointe (ages 10 & UP)   

Pre-pointe is for the serious dancer who aspires to be en pointe. In this class.dancers will use barre work, core conditioning, along with foot/ankle strengthening exercises to enhance their future towards pointe shoes. Dancers must be 10+ years old, have 2 consecutive years of ballet training, take a weekly ballet class in addition to pre pointe, and be recommended or evaluated by Instructor.

Ballet shoes, tennis ball, and theraband will be needed for this class. 

Teen Beg/Int Ballet (ages 13-18)

Teen Lyrical (ages 13-18)  

Lyrical dance combines techniques of classical ballet and jazz, as well as some modern elements. Classes include warm up, isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions, and choreography combinations. These classes are for dancers who like precision and rhythm, physical challenges, and personal style and expression particularly with lyrically expressive songs. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility and strength, rhythms and isolation of body parts, and expressing personal style. 

Teen Tap (ages 13-18)  

Dancers will learn fundamental tap skills.  Your dancer will learn  and refine rhythm tap technique, develop their sense of time, coordination and musical skills. A class syllabus is used, along with positive feedback to encourage the dancer. 

Musical Theater (ages 5 & UP )   

Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions. Dancers will warmup and stretch for the dance component and learn select works from popular musicals.   September through December will offer six week sessions. MOANA and ELF are the fall session themes.
